A word
From Our Founder
” After ten years of teaching in traditional early childhood and primary settings, and starting my own family, I found myself in a Learning Support role which I loved. After moving to the Gold Coast in 2012 and whilst completing my Masters in Learning and Development, I started offering private tuition in my home, specialising in helping homeschoolers. When the time came to return to work full time, I was eager to create something that better suited the needs of my own family and I was not keen to return to the rigidity of the school system. I responded to the obvious demand for homeschool help and Flourish has been evolving ever since.
From humble beginnings, my home-based business soon outgrew my lounge room and I secured my first commercial premises in Toolona St, Tugun. In 2018, we moved to a larger space in Tugun just opposite the Tugun Bowls Club. I love the local community feel here and I am so grateful to be able to call Tugun home.
In 2020, we continue to grow and now offer online and mobile tuition as well as our face to face sessions. We have also recently started offering disability support services and have more group options and activities coming soon to provide opportunities for young people with diverse needs to work towards their social and community participation goals. Our programs are all developed around the needs of individuals and their families, offering personalised learning pathways and support services.
Our goal is to help young people flourish, starting with their health and wellbeing. At Flourish, we specialise in helping young people with diverse learning and support needs, supporting homeschoolers and arranging flexible enrolment solutions with local primary and high schools.
We are particularly experienced and passionate about working with young people with Autism, Dyslexia and Anxiety. Many of the young people we work with have not felt that all important sense of belonging and safety in other settings. Some have never made a friend in many years of schooling and we focus on their social and communication goals and provide opportunities where they are supported to interact and experience success both socially and academically.
Throughout the years, my prime concern has always been service quality, developing partnerships with families and local schools, and ultimately helping young people flourish. “
